Retire United: Literacy Efforts Across Lane County

  • United Way of Lane County 3171 Gateway Loop Springfield, OR, 97477 United States (map)

Retire United is a new group that meets every other month to help retirees stay up-to-date on current community issues while discovering volunteer opportunities and connecting with others.

On April 3, we will have a panel of non-profit organizations sharing information about literacy efforts across Lane County including volunteer opportunities. Attendees are welcome to bring a children’s book to donate to help us kick off our book drive! The panel discussion will be from 10:30 am – 12 pm, followed by lunch until 1:00 pm (generously paid for by our annual sponsors) for those who are able to stay for this social time.

The program is open to anyone who has retired or is retiring soon, and is free of charge.  Space is limited, so please RSVP early.

Can’t join us on April 3, but interested in our new Retire United group?  Click here to download the Retire United brochure, and mark your calendar for the first Wednesday of every other month (June 5th will focus on food programs and August 7 on volunteerism).  To be added to the distribution list or for more information, please contact Debra Weinman, Volunteer Engagement Manger, at dweinman@unitedwaylane.org or 541.741.6000 x 159.
