Volunteer
At United Way, volunteers drive our efforts to help people with the building blocks for a good life - education, income and health. Over 92,000 volunteer hours were logged by our Volunteer Center for the last 12 months. Using the Federal hourly calcuation, that means that we've helped provide nearly $2 million worth of time and expertise to our local charities. Let's make it 100,000 hours next year!
With our partner The Register-Guard, we recognize volunteers every month. Our annual Volunteer of the Year award ceremony was held on April 21, 2010 and, of all the extraordinary volunteers nominated, local businessman and philanthropist JOHN TILSON received the highest honor.
