United Way is asking –
What kind of community do you want?

United Way of Lane County, in partnership with the Harwood Institute for Public Innovation and United Way Worldwide, hosted over 15 Community Conversations throughout Lane County. We are asking a series of questions with the hope of learning what kind of community you want.
Here’s what we heard:

Our conversations have been with individuals in a variety of fields, with different backgrounds and experiences. The discussions have helped us begin to paint a picture of Lane County – the dreams, challenges and hopes you have for the future. In the process, we’ve learned how important it is that we work together to create a stable, thriving community with abundant opportunities for everyone.
We’ve also learned that there are few things standing in the way of those dreams. Many people reflected on the need for more jobs and education, the challenge of making ends meet or finding affordable healthcare, and the difficulty of supporting young people in our community so they have the same opportunities that their parents did. This is not OK.
We hope you’ll join United Way in our commitment to improving the lives of people in our community through our efforts in Education, Income and Health. Help us make the community you want.
