Helping Open Doors By Preparing and Empowering Young Women
Women & Philanthropy’s pilot project is a three year collaborative designed to support girls in foster care make a successful transition into adulthood and independence.

Service Objectives:
- Match each young woman with an individual mentor for three years.
- Provide financial literacy, money management classes, management of Individual Development Accounts (IDA) and a 2:1 savings match for a specific goal.
- Provide education on healthy body image, healthy relationships and sexuality issues.
- Provide supportive case management and independent living skills. Young women will acquire knowledge and skills about school and career achievement, housing awareness, transportation, employment, community resources and supportive relationships.
- Provide team-building and interactive activites for mentors and young women. Stimulate community awareness and learning, coordinate group volunteer opportunities, provide opportunities for cultural and physical activities that may not be accessible to the young women.
