Tax-aide sites help low-wage households receive eligible tax credits

Are you getting all the tax credits and refunds you are eligible for? United Way along with AARP and the IRS are partners in providing free AARP Tax-Aide™ sites throughout Lane County. Tax-Aide is available to all taxpayers with low and moderate incomes, with special attention to those age 60 and over. You need not be an AARP member. The primary focus is on helping eligible residents receive the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC).

The Earned Income Tax Credit is a refundable federal income tax credit for low to moderate income working individuals and families. In 2009 over $6 million came back to Lane County taxpayers through Tax-Aide sites. Some of that money may be yours.  Will you qualify for EITC this year?

To qualify for EITC, taxpayers must meet certain requirements and file a tax return (even if they did not earn enough money to be obligated to file a tax return). That’s what Tax-Aide is here to help you with. To determine your eligibility visit the EITC home page.
