At United Way of Lane County, we work to ensure that Lane County is a place of opportunity not hardship. The ALICE report illuminates the struggles of people in Lane County, as well as tangible opportunities to create a brighter future. ALICE stands for Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed. ALICE households earn above the Federal Poverty level, but less than what it takes to survive in the modern economy.

ALICE provides a new call to action for our community. We must come together in new and different ways to build a future full of prosperity. By working together as a community, we can ensure that the people of Lane County are equipped with the resources they need to thrive.

The latest report was issued May 17th, 2018. That report showed that 44% of Lane County's 147,712 households are one unexpected expense away from financial distress; in Lane County 26,588 households live below the Federal Poverty Level (FPL), with another 38,405 families being considered ALICE families.
