What we do
United Way is advancing the common good by investing in the building blocks for a good life – education, income, and health.
We convene and collaborate with partners from across the community - nonprofits, government, business, volunteers - to create opportunities for a better life for Lane County's most vulnerable residents. Our Goals for 2020 (see below) are being accomplished by investing donations and other community resources in programs that:
- prepare children to succeed in school and life,
- move famililies from poverty to financial stability, and
- ensure people have access to health care.
In order for these programs to work, we must also respond to vulnerable people’s basic needs. Our network of 44 funded partner agencies are also making sure that people have access to services for food, safety and shelter.
Our funded agency partners are among the best nonprofits in Oregon. (Click here for a list of these exemplary organizations.)
To advance the common good for all, our work must be more than short-term fixes. Our community will reach these Goals for 2020 by strategically improving overall community conditions in the areas of EDUCATION, INCOME and HEALTH - the building blocks for a good life.
