Parents are their child’s first teacher. However, more than 2/3 of Lane County parents are unsure about what their child needs to know before entering kindergarten.

United Way of Lane County’s Kindergarten Readiness Kits are designed to empower parents with the tools and resources needed to prepare their child for this important transition. Each kit includes everyday tips and activities that parents can use in their daily routine to help teach essential kindergarten skills--from numbers and letters to social and emotional skills. Children will also receive their own book, activity, and supplies to practice their skills before entering kindergarten.

Thank you to our generous sponsors.

Because of your support, we will be able to distribute 900 kits to rural and under-served communities in Lane County! Thank you for your commitment to giving kids and families what they need to start school ready to succeed.

Want to help? Here's how.

Volunteer to assemble kits! These one-hour volunteer assembly sessions will take place June 26th and 27th at United Way from 4:30 - 6:00pm. Volunteers will help assemble 400 kindergarten readiness kits by stuffing materials in bags and prepping a numeracy game. This volunteer activity is suitable for all ages and types of volunteers!
